JUDGE'S COMMENTS
The John Melecsinsky Memorial Best in Show award goes to the quilt “WHAT REMAINS… NO PAIN” BY CATHERINE WHALL SMITH. It is a fine example of studied composition and the use of negative space. The color, texture, and mix of pattern and line tell a story, as does the subject of the quilt. It is stunning.

JUDGE'S STATEMENT
"What a beautiful collection of fiber art! The pieces in this show represent the talent, dedication, and creativity of a wide variety of fiber artists. I was impressed with the range of their work - from three-dimensional mixed media and garments to traditional pieced and pictorial art quilts. Each piece was outstanding, and the beauty that can only be achieved with fabric, fiber, and thread made judging this collection even more difficult. Congratulations to all who participated and shared their work."
