ABOUT MICHAEL MIGLIETTA . . .
Inkist/painter/illustrator, born in the hospital that now lays abandoned in the bedlam backdrop of Hanover, raised by wolves, returning to the lining of the Silver City to spread the gifts of my labor. My work comes from my fascination with the shapes clouds make, the way parallel channels of muscle create form and function, and the way the heavens above shimmer with the twinkling specs of a million exploding suns.
Our minds tend to lean against familiarity for comfort, and sometimes without actively doing so, will your mind see faces in the wood grain. Perhaps you see a wincing ghost in the shadows of your open bedroom door, or the carpet stain looks like it's staring right back at you. This phenomenon is commonly dismissed as meaningless, scientifically referred to as "pareidolia". These meaningless faces have no one to advocate for them, until now. With my work, wander your eyes, see with a relaxed mind, and if you are to stare: do so, politely - you don't know who or what might be staring back. Best wishes! |
