ABOUT VOLTORI . . .
VOLTORI is a self-taught New Haven-based artist who has been painting for over 12 years. His diverse portfolio includes portraits as well as abstract pieces, executed in oil paint, acrylics and multimedia. His work is best appreciated by seeing it in person – where you can see the impact of his large-scale pieces – and hearing him talk about it in his own words.
more about VOLTORI . . .
Why Voltori? "I like birds and the idea of flying. The name may sound strange but no, I don't associate with vultures. Birds in general can pretty much fly anywhere they want. The sky is their limit. And when it comes to making art, there is no limit either." Background? "I'm originally from Europe. It's interesting because nobody in my family was ever an artist yet here I am creating; and it's all pretty much self-taught." How long have you been an artist? "I have been making art for years but it really took off for me about 12 years ago. I sold my first piece when I was 15 years old; my confidence skyrocketed. I enjoy working with different mediums such as oil, acrylic, charcoal, graphite, chalk pastel, soft pastel, pan pastel, spray paint etc. I like to work with colors but also in black and white. It has been a learning experience for me; experimenting, testing, failing, trying again and so on." What is your favorite quote? "I like a lot of quotes, but since this is art related I'd say Einstein's: "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution." Coming from an absolute genius, the fact that he seemed to appreciate art so much, this quote helps me stay creative. |
