JUROR'S STATEMENT
There is a certain incredible energy in this Fiber Exhibition brought to fruition by the artists’ processes that is expressed directly from their souls.
This is evident through the bold, intricate line work, the complexity of design, choices in fibers and stitch work, colors and textures leaping forward, or colliding in luscious pattern and textures…..all for the benefit of the viewer. We are able to discern this energy through the creative, knowing hands of each artist…. each piece pushing the limits of the materials and inventiveness of the artist.
This energy--soulfully driven-- is what drew me to identify uniqueness, an intent of meaning, playfulness or emotion on the part of the award winners.
That being said, I am truly honored and inspired by the incredibly diverse works from all the contributing artists. Viewing the works, I felt privileged to have a window into the energy and soul of each artist’s process. All of the work showcased originality, artistic voice, and intense technical skill. I look forward to hopefully meeting all of you through your work again.
