Pastel painting demonstrates how the artist can use color value and temperature to enhance perspective, mood and expression
VALUE DOES THE WORK . . . COLOR GETS THE GLORY!

This one-day pastel workshop will concentrate on the importance of color value and color temperature. Both of these topics play an important part in the success of any painting produced in any medium.
 
 With simple exercises focusing on how each enhances aerial perspective, mood, and expression, you will learn the basics of how value does indeed do the work only to be heightened by adding the correct color value to your piece. Join me for a fun day of experimentation and exploration of these two incredibly important part of any work you plan to produce.

SCHEDULE
10 AM - 4 PM
​Morning Exercise: Value Exercises (3 hours)
  • 5 Minute Timed Gray Painting Exercise
  • ½ Hour Timed Warm Painting Exercise
  • ½ Hour Timed Cool Painting Exercise
  • Rest of the morning:
           - Large Gray Painting Exercise with Color Inset
 
Break for 1 hour lunch
 
Afternoon Exercise: Color Temperature Exercises (3 hours)
  • Match the 3 Paint Chips Exercise
  • Create Warm and Cool Versions of the Paint Chips
  • Match the Tin Foil Color Exercise
  • Blend Warm to Cool Colors from Top to Bottom
            - Creating a Neutral Blend between them.
  • One Shape Composition with Temperature
  • 3 Different Shapes Composition
            - All Negative Space has to be different shapes, use temperature to layer objects back to front.
