One of the main ways we do that is by welcoming people into our gallery for classes, paint parties, and private art gallery events /rentals. NEW CLASS!
PORTRAIT PAINTING CLASS Wednesday Afternoons / 1:00 - 3:00 PM / Sept. 11th - Oct. 16th $132 members / $150 non-members for 6 sessions Instructor: Sarah Warda New or fearful of painting portraits? Even if you have no experience in portraiture, this is the perfect class for you! This class focuses on removing barriers that are keeping you from fully enjoying painting people. Sarah will demonstrate how to break down the head into basic shapes, massing in planes, and the application of light and shade. In this six week course, we will begin with a drawing directly on canvas, then focus on a tonal under painting, and finally use color from a limited palette as we watch our portrait glow and come to life! |

Thursday Mornings / 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM / starts September 12th $22 per class for members / $25 for non-members Instructor: Bonnie Potter Expert Instructor Bonnie Potter will guide you through your oil, acrylic, or pastel project with instruction on color mixing, drawing and composition. Her supportive approach creates a positive environment where beginners and experienced artists can build their skills. This pay-as-y0u-go class starts September 12th, please contact the Gallery if you are a new attendee. |

STUDIO ART WORKSHOPS / Ongoing
WALK-INS WELCOME! PREREGISTRATION NOT REQUIRED!
Gallery 53 offers ongoing art classes from September through June in our spacious, well-lit art studio. Sessions are available on a pay-as-you-go basis, preregistration is not necessary, walk-ins are welcome! If you're interested, we recommend calling Gallery 53 (203.235.5347) in advance to confirm availability. Attendees bring their own materials.

Portrait Studio
Tuesday Mornings / 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM / starts September 17th $10 per session for members / $15 for non-members Monitor: Ellie Bender There’s nothing like the challenge of drawing or painting from life to help you learn to see and grow as an artist! Gallery 53's Portrait Studio features live models that rotate every 3 weeks. Artists paint or draw using the medium of their choice in these 2 1/2 hour studio sessions. There is no instructor, but these weekly sessions offer you an excellent opportunity to sharpen your observation and rendering skills. STARTING SEPTEMBER 17, 2019. |
