CREATIVE EMBROIDERY TECHNIQUES with Lily Stabile
4 Sessions: Thursdays, May 7, 14, 21, & 28
Times: 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Already mastered the basic stitches and looking to increase your skills? Come to our Creative Embroidery Workshop and learn something new::
- Intermediate Stitches: we will be working with intermediate level decorative stitches and discussing ways to use and combine them
- Materials: expanding on woven fabrics, we’ll discuss embroidery on knits, silk, denim, and other fabrics. We’ll discuss materials and methods appropriate for many applications
- Mixed media: how to incorporate elements like beadwork, appliqué, and even needle felting
- Introduction to Stumpwork: techniques for creating raised and three dimensional embroidery elements
You’ll leave the workshop with the knowledge and inspiration you need to create next level, completely unique stitched designs. Students will receive a beautifully packaged materials kit which is included in the price of the class. You are also welcome to bring works-in-progress for sharing and troubleshooting.
Talented Fiber Artist Lily Stabile will lead this 4 session workshop. In addition to creating her own fiber artwork, Lily does embroidery and hand spinning workshops and has been a volunteer at the Durham Fair Fiber Department for the past 6 years.
