In Memory of Bruce Raven
by Jill Nichols

Cry a tear of Cerulean blue,
mixed with a spot of Sap Green
Roll down my cheek of Cadmium Red Light and Yellow Ochre
My eyes are blood shot with Alizarin Crimson
My sorrow is shades of gray
mixed from a palette of years gone

Now let’s sweeten the colors a bit
And for the sake of the picture
Smile, a warm smile mixed with Cadmium Yellow
A warm embrace of Burnt Sienna and Orange
Hopeful eyes now with some Ultramarine Blue

Leave me with your memories
And paintings
Both yours and mine

You will stay between my heart and the canvas
A blend of humor, knowledge and love
A color that you mixed once still remains.
Rest now, our hands will carry on as best we can.
